The emphases being Chinese and Japanese art forms such as porcelain, lacquer ware, prints and paintings, etc. Of course the link with the East India Companies is very clear in this field. We specialise in late 17th century - early 20th century publications, as well as privately printed catalogues of private collections, the 'out-of-print' reference works and of course the important new publications. We pride ourselves in finding the titles that are extremely rare, at times on request. As of 2007 we are a member of the, NVVA; the Dutch league of antiquarian booksellers as well as the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB). We have opted to participate in art and antiques fairs rather than book fairs, as we find our books are a better link and an added value to visitors, art collectors and dealers alike. History: The company was founded in 2001, as Vanderven Art Books, by Michael Meijering, Floris van der Ven and Clemens van der Ven. Michael Meijering was partly employee with Vanderven & Vanderven Oriental Art at the time and partly managing director of the antiquarian book company. The added value of books within the Asian art field, was soon discovered by many and the antiquarian firm grew fast. In 2005 Michael Meijering took up the antiquarian firm full time. 2008: This year has been very important for the company. Decisive steps were taken which gave the future of the company a new direction. 1+1=2 Michael Meijering has, with the support of his business partners, been the sole drive of the firm, which proved to become an unrealistic situation. Therefore, from 1 April 2008, his wife Mrs. Helena Meijering-Rubes joined the company, full time. Change of name: As of 1 October 2008, the name of the company was changed to Meijering Art Books. An important step in the life of every company. The growth of the company and the new 'husband-and-wife' situation has ensued the business partners, to hand over their place within the company for Michael and Helena Meijering. The change of name was a logical consequence of this internal course of events. Fair History up to 2008: pAn Amsterdam, in collaboration with Vanderven & Vanderven Oriental Art Summer Fair Olympia in collaboration Vanderven Oriental Art Exhibition with Guus Roell Art & Antiques during Tefaf Maastricht Art & Antiques Fair 's-Hertogenbosch 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 Primavera Rotterdam New Gallery The ever growing stock and increasing requests to visit our gallery, made it necessary to look for a new location to house the company. This we have found, in a small town called Dreumel. The town is located between the two great rivers Maas and Waal, in a quiet and beautiful rural area and still only minutes away from various larger cities. The new gallery is divided in two major showrooms covering nearly 200 square metres. This gives us the opportunity to welcome our customers in a pleasant environment with the possibility to browse through our books at ease and in comfort. We have added some images of our gallery on the cd rom, which accompanies this information package. For more information please contact us. |
